The GRIDSTYLE system variable is used to control the grid display as points or lines.

System Variable Value:

0 : display as grid lines for model space, block editor, drawing and paper space in layout
1 : display as points for model space
2 : display as points for block editor
4 : display as points for drawing and paper space in layout
