Function Description:

It is used to define colors of objects. The GstarCAD provides 255 kinds of colors in Index Color, True Color and Color Books.

Dialog Box Options:

Index Color tab

Specifies color settings using the 255 GstarCAD Color Index (GCI) colors.

GstarCAD Index Color (GCI) Palettes: Specify a color from the GstarCAD Color Index. The large palette displays colors 10 through 249. The second palette displays colors 1 through 9; these colors have names as well as numbers. The third palette displays colors 250 through 255; these colors are shades of gray.The number of the color and its red, green, blue value are displayed below the palette when you hover over a color. Click a color or enter the color number or name to select the color.
Index Color: Display the GCI color number when hovering over a color.
Red, Green,Blue: Display the RGB color number when hovering over a color.
Bylayer: Specify the color of new object to be the same as the color of the layer when it is created. When selected the BYLAYER, the color of the current layer displays in palettes of "old color and new color".
Byblock: Specify the color of new object to be default (white or black, it is determined by the background color). The new object can change its color when grouping it and inserting it as a block. When inserting a block into a drawing, the object in the block inherits the current color settings. Note: The BYLAYER and BYBLOCK options are not suitable for the LIGHT command.
Color: Specify a color name, BYLAYER or BYBLOCK, or a series number from 1 to 255 in GstarCAD Index. The new color example displays the recently selected color. Old color example displays the previously selected color. New color example displays the currently selected color.

True Color tab

Specify the true color settings by True color (24-bit color). Over sixteen million colors are available when using true color functionality. The options available on the True Color tab are dependent on whether the HSL or RGB color model is specified. HSL color model is defined by Hue, Saturation, and Luminance. RGB color model is defined by Red, Green, and Blue.

HSL color model:Select colors by HSL color model. Hue, Saturation, and Luminance are properties of color. Users can specify a large range of colors by setting those properties.
Hue: Specify the hue of a color. The hue of a color means its specified wave length in visible spectrum. Users can select a hue by chromatography or specifying a hue value. The hue value can affect the RGB value. Its valid value is from 0 to 360.
Saturation: Specify the saturation of a color. The higher saturation can make color more pure, and lower saturation can make color fading. Users can select saturation by?chromatography or specifying a saturation value. The saturation value can affect the RGB value. Its valid value is from 0 to 100%.
Luminance: Specify the luminance of a color. Users can specify the color luminance by the sliding block or specify a luminance value. Its valid value is from 0 to 100%. 0 is darkest (dark) and 100% is lightest (white). 50% is the best luminance for a color. The luminance value can affect the RGB value.
Chromatography: Specify the color hue and purity. Users can select a hue by moving cross cursor from one side to another side in chromatography. They can select saturation by moving cross cursor from top to bottom in chromatography.
Colcor sliding block: Specify the color luminance. Users can select a luminance by adjusting the color sliding block or specifying a value.
RGB color model: Select a color by RGB color model. The available option in "True Color" label is determined by the color mode (HSL or RGB). A color can be decomposed to three components as red, green, and blue. The values of components represent their intensities. The group of those values can create a large color range.
Red (R): Specify the value of red component. Users can adjust the sliding block or specify a value in the "Red" frame from 1 to 255. It will display the color changes in HSL color mode.
Green (G): Specify the value of green component. User can adjust the sliding block or specify a value in the "Green" frame from 1 to 255. It will display the color changes in HSL color mode.
Blue (B): Specify the value of blue component. Users can adjust the sliding block or specify a value in the "Blue" frame from 1 to 255. It will display the color changes in HSL color mode.
Color: Specify the RGB value. This option updating when the HSL or RGB option changes. Users can also edit RGB value as this way: 000,000,000.
Save as RGB Ture Color: Specify each value of three components.
Old color example: Display the previously selected color.
New color example: Display the currently selected color.

Color Books tab

Specify colors by third-party color books or customized color books. Once a color book is selected, the Color Books tab displays the name of the selected color book.

Color book: Specify the color book for selecting colors. Users can find all kinds of color books contained in “Color Book Locations” ( “File” option in “Option” dialog box).
It displays all pages of selected color book, as well as colors and their names of each page. The program supports at most ten kinds of color books. If there is no paging in a color book, the program will divide colors by seven kinds of colors in one page. Users can view color book pages by selecting a region on the color sliding block or clicking the up or down arrow.
RGB Equivalent: Specify the values of RGB color components.
Color: Specify the current selected color in color book. If users want to search a specified color in color book, they can input its serial number and press Tab key at the same time. The inputted color serial number will update the new color example. If there is no specified color in the color book, it will display the closest color serial number.
Old color example: Display the previously selected color.
New color example: Display the currently selected color.
