Function Description:

This command is used to create a 2D profile of 3D solids and display it in a layout viewport.
The selected objects are projected onto a 2D plane which is parallel to the current layout viewport and the hidden and visible lines of selected objects are regenerated and displayed only in this viewport.

Display hidden profile lines on separate layer? [Yes/No] \<Y>:

This option can creates two blocks, one block contains all visible lines in the whole selection set; another block contains all hidden lines in the whole selection set. When generating hidden lines, the solid can partially or entirely hide other solids. The layer on visible block is BYLAYER and the layer on hidden block is HIDDEN (if it has been loaded). The layers are named as the following:
PV- for the visible profile layer, PH- for the hidden profile layer. For example, if creating a profile in 25C handle viewport, the visible lines are placed on layer PV-25C and the hidden lines are placed on layer PH-25C. If these layers do not exist, this command creates them. If these layers exist, this command adds blocks information to existing layers.
Note: If users want to know the name of the handle, they can use the LIST command in the paper space.
The SOLPROF command can not change the display of layers. If users only want to check created profiles, they can turn off the original layers of solid (usually the current layer).

Displays all profile lines no matter visible lines or hidden lines and creates a block for the profile lines of each selected solid. The block uses the same layer of the original solid, the layer is named as the rule of the Yes option.

• Project profile lines onto a plane? [Yes/No]: Users can choose whether to project profile lines onto a plane and create a 2D object.

• Yes: The 3D profile is projected to a plane that perpendicular to viewing direction and through the original point of the UCS. If users want to remove those 2D profiles, they can remove lines perpendicular to viewing direction and convert arcs and circles to lines in side view.

  - No: Do not project the profile lines onto a plane. - Delete tangential edges? [Yes/No]: Users can choose whether to display tangential edges. The tangential edge is an assumed edge, it is the boundary edge for two tangent planes.
  - Yes: Deletes tangential edges. - No: Do not display tangential edges.
