REVSURF Command — GstarCAD 2027

REVSURF Command

GstarCAD 2027 · Command Reference

Commands > R Command > REVSURF

Function Description:

This command is used to create meshes by revolving the outlines around axes.

Users can create meshes by selecting lines, arcs, circles, 2D or 3D polylines. They can also revolve them by a specified axis along the sweep trace. The MESHTYPE system variable can specify the mesh type. By default, it is set to 0 for creating polyface or polygon meshes.
The meshes density is controlled by the SURFTAB1 and SURFTAB2 system variables. The SURFTAB1 system variable specifies mesh lines numbers on the revolving direction. If the path curve is a line, arc, circle or polyline that a spline-fit, the SURFTAB2 system variable divides the path curve by the specified mesh lines numbers. If the path curve is a polyline without fitted by a spline, the meshes are created at the endpoint of the line and each arc segment is divided into the specified numbers by the SURFTAB2 system variable.

Select objects to rotate:

Select objects to rotate

Selects lines, arcs, circles, 2D or 3D polylines.

Object that defines the axis of revolution

Selects a line or open 2D or 3D polyline to define the axis of revolution. The axis direction can not be parallel to the plane of the original object.

The object is swept around an selected axis to create meshes. Users can create closed meshes by selecting a circle or closed polyline as path curve. The axis of revolution is determined by the vector that defined by the first vertex directs to the end vertex, all middle vertices are ignored.

Specify start angle

Specifies a start angle, the object is swept from this angle offset to create meshes.

Specify included angle

Specifies an included angle, the object is rotated around a specified axis by this angle. Entering an angle less than 360°, it avoids creating a closed circle.

The rotation direction is influenced by the selected point on the axis of revolution. On the following are two examples:
