You can organize and group drawing objects on Layers, which are like transparent overlays.

Overview of Layers
Information in a drawing can be grouped by function and linetype, color and other standards can be enforced with the use of Layers. Create and Name Layers
A new layer can be created and named for each conceptual grouping. Change Layer Settings and Layer Properties
A layer's name and any of its properties (color and linetype) can be changed any time and objects can be moved from one layer to another. Filter and Sort the List of Layers
Layer names are listed in the Layer Properties Manager and you can use the name or any layer property to sort them within the list. Save and Restore Layer States
Current layer settings can be saved as a layer state, the state can be changed and restored later.
