TRIM Command
GstarCAD 2027 · Command Reference
Commands > T Command > TRIM
Function Description:
This command is used to trim an object to make it join with other objects.
To trim objects, users should firstly select
a boundary, and then press Enter to select objects to be trimmed.
Users can
make all objects to be boundaries by pressing Enter under the first prompt of
Select objects or \<select all>:.

Selects the boundary of objects to be trimmed or presses
Enter to select all displayed objects as potential boundaries. The TRIM command projects the boundary and objects to be trimmed into
the XY plane of the current UCS.
Note: If the selected boundary contains block, users can only use
the single selection, Crossing, Fence and Select all options.

Select cutting edges
Specifies one or more objects to be used as a boundary for the trim. TRIM projects the cutting edges and the objects to be trimmed onto the XY plane of the current user coordinate system (UCS). In Quick mode, selecting an object that doesn't cross a boundary deletes the object instead.
Select all
Specifies that all objects in the drawing can be used as trim boundaries.
Select object to trim
Specifies objects to trim. The prompt for selecting trimmed objects will repeat, so you can select multiple trimmed objects. Press ENTER to exit the command.
shift-select to extend
Shift-select extends the selected objects rather than trimming them. It provides a convenient way to switch between TRIM and EXTEND commands.
cuTting edges
Uses other selected objects to define the boundaries to which objects are trimed.
Fence
Selects all objects that intersected with fence. The selection fence is a series of temporary segments, they are defined by two or more points. The selection fence does not form a closed loop.

Crossing
Selects objects within and crossing the rectangular area. The rectangular area is defined by two points.
Note: If it is uncertain for some objects to be trimmed by crossing selected, the TRIM command selects objects along the clockwise direction from the first selection point.

mOde
There are two modes for trimming objects: Quick mode and Standard mode. The default trimming mode is set to Quick, which uses all objects as potential cutting edges. If set to Standard, this mode will prompt you to select cutting edges.
Project
Uses the projection to trim objects.
Enter a projection option [None/Ucs/View] \<Ucs>:
- None: No projection. It only trims objects that intersected with selected boundary in 3D space.
- Ucs:
Specifies projection onto the XY plane of the current UCS. It trims objects that intersected with
the selected boundary on the XY plane in the current UCS. Objects without
intersection with selected boundary are not trimmed in 3D space.
- View:
Specifies projection along the direction of the current view. It trims objects that intersected with
the selected boundary in the current view.

Edge
Determines to trim the object at the intersection in 3D space or on its extended edge.
Enter an implied edge extension mode [Extend/No extend] \<No extend>:
- Extend: Extends the selected object along the direction of its own and trims it at the intersection point on the XY plane in the current UCS.
- No extend: The selected object can be trimmed on the condition that they are intersected in 3D space.

eRase
Deletes selected objects. It provides a convenient way to erase needless objects without exiting the TRIM command.
Undo
Quits the latest change made by TRIM command.
