To Work With Rectangular Arrays
How to create and edit rectangular arrays.
To Create a Rectangular Array
- Do one of the followings:
- Select Modify > Array > Rectangular Array on the main menu.
- Click the Rectangular Array tool on the Array toolbar.
- Type ARRAYRECT and press Enter.
- Select the objects to array and press Enter. A default rectangular array is displayed.
- On the array preview, drag the grips to adjust the spacing and number of rows and columns. You can also modify values on the Array Creation context ribbon.
To Add Levels to an Array
- Select one of the items in the array.
- Enter the number of levels in the Array context ribbon > Levels panel > Levels.
To Modify the Number of Items in a Rectangular Array
- Select the array.
- Drag a grip in the top-right, top-left, or bottom-right corner to increase or decrease the number of rows or columns.
To Change the Angle of an Array
- Select the array.
- Hover over the upper-left triangular grip.
- Click the Axis Angle option from the menu.
- Specify an axis angle according to the command prompt.
To Work With Path Arrays
How to create and edit path arrays.
To Create a Path Array
- Do one of the followings:
- Select Modify > Array > Path Array on the main menu.
- Click the Path Array tool on the Array toolbar.
- Type ARRAYPATH and press Enter.
- Select the objects to array and press Enter.
- Select path curve.
- Move the cursor along the path curve to make adjustments.
- Press Enter to complete the array.
To Specify the Distance Between Objects Arrayed on a Path
Use this method if the path array is associative and ribbons are displayed.
- Select an item in the array.
- Enter a distance in the Array context ribbon > Items panel > Between.
To Fill in Arrayed Objects After the Path Length Changes
Use this method if the path array is associative and the Properties palette is displayed.
- Select an item in the array.
- In the Properties palette, under Misc, make sure the Method setting equals Measure.
- Click Yes in the Fill entire path box.
To Adjust the Spacing Between Items in a Path Array
- Select an item in the array.
- In the Properties palette, set the Method setting to Measure.
- Click the Item Spacing grip. When there are three or more items in the array, this grip displays on the second item in the first row of the path array.
To Toggle the Object Alignment on Path Arrays
Use this method if the path array is associative and ribbons are displayed. This option determines whether the arrayed items stay parallel to each other or follow the alignment of the path.
- Select an item in the array.
- Click Properties panel > Align Items on the ribbon context tab.
To Work With Polar Arrays
How to create and edit polar arrays.
To Create a Polar Array
- Do one of the followings:
- Select Modify > Array > Polar Array on the main menu.
- Click the Polar Array tool on the Array toolbar.
- Type ARRAYPOLAR and press Enter.
- Select the objects to array.
- Specify center point of array. A preview array is displayed.
- Enter I (Items) and enter the number of objects to array.
- Enter A (Angle between) and enter the angle to fill. You can also drag the arrow grips to adjust the angle between items in the array.
To Modify the Angle Between the Items in a Polar Array
- Select the array.
- Click the Angle Between grip. The Angle Between grip is displayed on the second item in the first row of the polar array. This grip is displayed only when there are three or more items in the array.
- Move the cursor to increase or decrease the angle between the items and then click.
To Toggle the Object Rotation on Polar Arrays
This procedure controls whether the objects are rotated about the center point or maintain their original alignment.
- Select the array.
- Click the Properties panel > Rotate items on the ribbon context tab.
