Function Description:
Dynamically displays objects on layers selected from the Layer list.
This dialog box displays numbers of layers in the drawing. Users can modify the current layer state
when exiting; saving layer states or purging unreferenced layers. Users can use the Laywalk
dialog box in a paper space viewport to select the layer which will be opened and frozen in
the layer list and the current viewport. Any unselected layer in the layer list
is frozen in the current viewport. You can change the display of one viewport
without altering the display of another viewport.
Dialog Box Options:
Filter
Turns the active filter on and off. Checking this option, it only displays the layers that match the active filter. Without checking this option, it displays complete layer list. (If existing an active filter, this option is available.) Users can open an active filter by entering a wildcard characters and pressing Enter, they can also select saved filters.
Layer List
It displays a list
of layers defined by a filter when the filter is active.
If there is no active filter, it displays
a list of layers in the drawing. Users can set the layer to be Always Show by
double-clicking it (there will be an asterisk added on the left). It can display
more options by right-clicking. In the layer list, users can do the following operations:
- Display the contents of a layer by clicking its name;
- Double-clicking a layer name to turn the Always Show option on or off;
- Select more layers by clicking layers and pressing Ctrl;
- Continues selection of layers by clicking layers and pressing Shift;
- Double-clicking in the layer list and pressing Ctrl or Shift to turn the Always Show option on or off;
- Select multiple layers by clicking and dragging layers in the layer list. Any other options, users can access Layer list shortcut menu by right-clicking.
Layer list shortcut menu options
Displays a list of options for the selected layers in the layer list.
- Hold Selection: Turns on the Always Show option for selected layers. There will be an asterisk added on the left (*).
- Release Selection: Turns off the Always Show option for selected layers.
- Release All: Turns off the Always Show option for all layers.
- Select All: Selects and displays all layers.
- Clear All: Clears all layers.
- Invert Selection: Clears the current layer; selects and displays all other layers.
- Select Unreferenced: Selects all unreferenced layers. Users can use the Purge button to remove unused layers.
- Save Layer State: Saves the current selection of layers as a layer state which can be used by the Layer States Manager.
- Inspect: Displays the number of layers in the drawing, the number of selected layers and the number of objects on the selected layers.
- Copy as Filter: Displays the name of the selected layer in the Filter text box. It can be used to create wildcard characters.
- Save Current Filter: Saves the current filter for reuse. Users can select this filter in the Filter list.
- Delete Current Filter: Removes the current filter from the filter list.
Select object
Selects objects and their layers.
Filter list
Users can display and highlight all layer names which qualify the name and wild characters by entering wild characters and pressing Enter. They can save and delete filters by right-clicking. The filter list only lists saved filters.
Purge
Users can purge the unreferenced selected layers from the drawing. According to the purge layer list, users can right-click on any position in the list and click Select Unreferenced option. It highlights the unreferenced layers in the list.
Restore on exit
Returns layers to their previous state when exiting the Laywalk dialog box. Without checking this option, any changes you made are saved.
